NICSA To Honor Leaders in Asset Management Industry at October GMM

Author: NICSA

Don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate excellence in innovation at NICSA’s General Membership Meeting in early October. As we do each year, NICSA will be recognizing outstanding leadership in the global asset management industry at its GMM in Boston. The NICSA NOVA award ceremony is one of our most anticipated events, and we very much look forward to recognizing this year’s winners. Nominated by their colleagues within the asset management industry, the award winners are chosen by an independent panel of judges comprised of distinguished industry leaders.

This year’s Strategic Leadership Award winner is Mark Casady, Retired Chairman & CEO of LPL Financial. Retiring from his role in January of 2017, Mark served more than 14 years with the company and 34 years in the financial services industry. He led LPL Financial through its initial public offering in 2010, as well as its transition from a primarily brokerage-based business to leader in the retail investment advisory space. Mark successfully steered the company through a transformation of its operations and infrastructure, resulting in considerable growth for the firm.

The 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Steven Duncan, President of American Funds. Steve will be honored as a visionary in the industry who has shown an extraordinary personal commitment to the field of asset management. With a distinguished career spanning nearly 40 years, Steve has built and led teams during periods of intense market volatility, immense regulatory pressures, and changing demographics. Perhaps best known for consistently driving industry-leading service while managing costs and increasing shareholder value, Steve has fused passion and insight into a number of leadership roles. He is viewed both as a thought leader and a voice for the industry on regulatory matters, customer engagement, and fiscal responsibility.

The annual Robert L. Gould Award for Outstanding Service to the Fund Industry will be awarded to Jay Hooley, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of State Street Corporation. A Wall Street fixture who has held a number of diverse leadership positions and demonstrated steadfast stewardship of his organization through digital upgrades, acquisitions, and shareholder service, Jay’s contribution to the industry through innovation in leadership has been immeasurable.

Among our corporate winners, BNY Mellon, DST Systems, and State Street Corporation will be honored for Technology, Product Development & Marketing, and Operational Excellence.

NICSA will also recognize some “up and coming” talent in the industry. Our Emerging Leaders in the Asset Management Industry category will honor Michael Akins, SVP & Head of ETFs, ALPS; Patrick Hurley, Vice President, OppenheimerFunds; Divya Mathew, Senior Manager, Deloitte; and Kelli O’Brien, Vice President, J.P. Morgan.

“The NOVA Awards program highlights NICSA’s commitment to innovation within the global asset management community through the recognition of outstanding leadership and achievement by those that have set their organizations apart by exemplifying outstanding customer experience and value,” said Jim Fitzpatrick, President of NICSA.
